Meet The Founders

Hi everyone! I am an accountant turned teacher turned hiking guide. Since moving to Tasmania two years ago, I’ve been guiding on the Overland Track, but my journey really began six years ago when Laila took me on my first multi-day hike. That experience lit a spark that’s shaped everything since.

Multi-day hiking has changed how I live and explore. It’s not just a morning beach swim anymore. It’s a swim with a Jetboil and fresh coffee on the sand. It’s pitching my tent at a random camp spot and learning to dive for abalone from strangers turned friends. Those moments have been some of the best of my life, and the skills I’ve learned have opened the door to adventure everywhere I go.

That’s how the idea for Solo Season was born! From a spark to share that same confidence and sense of adventure with other women ready to find their own kind of wild. To give women an open and welcoming entry point to a lifelong hobby which they can take everywhere they go.

And what an absolute win that Laila, who took me on my first multi-day hike (here in beautiful Tasmania), was just as excited to bring it to life alongside me!

Hey girls! You’ll usually find me giving most land- or sea-based activities a go (not always successfully) or working as a rural generalist doctor in remote corners of Australia.

I was introduced to overnight hiking in my early 20s by a group of close friends who’d grown up doing it with their families. Since then, that same crew has come together every year for a new multi-day hike. It’s honestly the best way to spend time with people you love. For me, it’s all about the little moments: sunrise coffees, swims/ice baths in alpine lakes, trail delirium that turns into uncontrollable laughter, and meals that taste like Michelin-starred feasts after a long day.

I’ve lived in Tasmania on and off for the past five years and absolutely love how much the community here leans into nature and adventure and also how open everyone is to sharing their skills. That’s not the case everywhere, and I’ve realised that without that kind of openness, a lot of people miss out on trying experiences they’d love but don’t know how to start.

That’s why, when Martina came to me with the idea for Solo Season, I was immediately in.
